So We Begin Again

“Love may fail, but courtesy will prevail.”

That was written by a high school student to Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. To which he replied, “I needn’t have bothered to write several books.”

Kurt Vonnegut also said, in advice to aspiring writers, to write what is important to you and what you think should be important to others.

I think that sentiment is pretty good, so for now I’m going to steal it. But I retain the right to change my mind and pursue other themes. That’s what this blog is, basically, an experiment to see what comes out.

I spent much of high school and early college writing, and I always believed I had the ability to say something worthwhile. As time passed, I found I had less and less to say of any importance, and not only that, but trying to say anything seemed only to depress me.

So I stopped. And wouldn’t you know it, I was slightly less depressed.

Now I’m back. Older and probably no less wise, but itching to flex my creative muscles again.

Who knows where this will take me, or if anyone will be along for the ride or not, but the vision now is that I will write journal entries, poems, short stories, jokes, and if possible, a serial story or two.

I am an amateur writer in every sense of the word. I hope any of you that happen to read this blog will keep that in mind when passing your judgement.

Welcome to my blog. Thanks for reading.
